The Cantina Chitarra was founded in 1907 and takes its name from the district in which it is located, in the heart of a high-intensity wine-growing valley, crossroads of four municipalities: Mazara del Vallo, Trapani, Salemi and Marsala.
In 2012 the company embarks on a path of evolution looking for the roots of the future in the past, through a journey between innovation and culture with the ambition of enhancing the peculiarities of a unique terroir.

In 2018 the Chitarra winery has a conferred area of approximately 600 hectares planted with vineyards.
75% with white grapes and 25% with black grapes.
There is ample space for native varieties such as: grillo, catarratto, inzolia, zibibbo, nero d’avola, frappato and nerello mascalese. The allochthonous varieties chosen are those that have proven to be best suited to the typically Sicilian Mediterranean climate, in particular: pinot grigio, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, fiano, viognier, syrah, merlot, cabernet sauvignon and pinot noir.
